Laughing Darkness (english)

When the sun is sinking, the world starts to close its eyes
Counterfeit gallows crossing the distance of only two steps from me

In a crazy impulse I tap into a world of monochrome
Shaking, that's the proof of being at the edge of despair

You're alive, the significance of this and
I've been alive, that's the reason
Your tears, the meaning of them and
How they've been drowning me, that's the reason

Laughing laughing laughing next to me
Laughing laughing laughing darkness

Exchanging glances, and as if for competition
The blue bird chooses the mistletoe [1]

The gravity of life, breathing in the celluloid sky
The answer I wanted to find equals what they call "death"

You're alive, the significance of this and
I've been alive, that's the reason
Your tears, the meaning of them and
How they've been drowning me, that's the reason

Laughing laughing laughing next to me
Laughing laughing laughing darkness

In a crazy impulse I tap into a world of monochrome
Shaking, that's the proof of being at the edge of despair

Stretching out my hands to reach the future
Grasping for merely a light

You're alive, the significance of this and
I've been alive, that's the reason
Your tears, the meaning of them and
How they've been drowning me, that's the reason

Laughing laughing laughing next to me
Laughing laughing laughing darkness

[1] The Blue Bird (after the stageplay L'oiseau bleu) is a very popular Christmas story in Japan;
The story is about two siblings searching for (dreaming of) a blue bird, on request of a fairy.
The blue bird is needed to heal the fairy's sick (or disabled) child (save someone from death)
But the children won't find it until the very end and when the blue bird is finally found, it flies away.

The blue bird symbolizes happiness. The Bluebird Syndrome is similar to the Peter Pan Syndrome
And a blue bird which is dead or flies away symbolizes loss of innocence.

Summing up I think the lyrics are melting into the story a bit; hoping to be saved from the darkness but the blue bird doesn't show up.
